Bakary Soumare's wish was granted and he will be heading south of the border. The Montreal Impact has just announced that it has acquired Canadian international midfielder Kyle Bekker from FC Dallas, in return for the Malian-American defender.
After being asked to be traded due to a lack of playing time, the club did not wast much time to accommodate the MLS veteran defender. The Impact gets in return a young talented midfielder and a Canadian international.
Though Montreal has its share of central midfielders on the squad already, it will be interesting how and where Kyle Bekker fits in the Impact's pecking order and what kind of role he will have in the squad. Nick de Santis, sporting director back in 2013, did not hide the fact the he coveted Bekker and would try to move up the draft.
