Rumours out of Argentina are saying that Ignacio Piatti might break his contract to play the second leg of the 2014 Copa Libertadores. But the offensive midfielder is expected to join the Montreal Impact in the next few days after playing his last game as San Lorenzo player; since FIFA rejected the Buenos Aires' request for an exception.
But the good news for the Impact and its fans is Piatti's performance in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores final against Paraguay's Nacional.
The visitors dominated the first half and were unlucky not to take the lead heading into the locker room. Emanuel Mas hit the post in the 31st minute off a square ball by Montreal Impact-bound winger Ignacio Piatti, and it wasn't Piatti's last contribution. He was San Lorenzo's best player in the first half, forcing Nacional keeper Ignacio Oscar Don to make multiple saves.
Mauro Matos scores San Lorenzo at the 65th minute, after a nice play by the visitors. But in the final moments of stoppage time, Julio Santa Cruz gets the equalizer for the Paraguayan club in front of its home fans and gives hope to Nacional for the second leg in Buenos Aires.
Unless you get to see a plot twist that can become a saga, the Impact is expecting Piatti to join the club sooner than later as await for confirmation from the MLS club.
