Report: Amauri linked to the Montreal Impact (Again)

Reports from Italy say that Brazilian-Italian striker, Amauri, is linked to the Montreal Impact.

Marco Luzzani

This is not the first time that Amauri has been linked to MLS and the Montreal Impact. While on loan with Fiorentina, his name came up while the Impact was preparing its expansion season in 2012. The rumor picked up again ,today, as reports from Italy talk about an interest from Toronto FC.

But other links have unsurprisingly come up linking Amauri to the Montreal Impact. CalcioNews24 reports that the striker is unhappy with his playing time at ParmaWith the talk of Alberto Gilardino coming to Toronto FC, CalcioNews24 reports that both the player and the Impact have been in contact.

As it was reported that Nick De Santis is not currently in Montreal, the rumors could make some sense if De Santis is on a recruiting trip. But the club has still not shared whether it made a decision on its head coach position.

While looking for that famous DP striker, the names of Amauri came up as did Luca Toni's and Marco Di Vaio's names. Since, Marco Di Vaio became the club's first Designated player in its MLS history.

After getting in touch with contacts in Italy, the news about Amauri is not new but surprising. Amauri's camp seem to be interested into coming to Major League Soccer. But it seems that the striker

has not been contacted by any club in MLS

With the Montreal Impact looking for a tall, physical striker to play alongside Di Vaio, the Amauri rumor makes some sense. But at this point, it only stands as a rumor and nothing else.
