A confrontation earlier in the season between club owner Joey Saputo and Head Coach Wilfried Nancy was reported this week by Jeremy Filosa and with corroboration from many other journos, the writing seemed on the wall for that relationship.
It is a pretty big blemish by the club owner considering the near miracle work Nancy has done with this club. CFM have become a wonder this season and the fans and ownership would be wise to keep him around and continue the great work.
Saputo did really put Nancy over in the post season pressers, but one has to wonder how the club fixes this relationship.
Bombshell from Jeremy.

I can confirm that Nancy and club owner Joey Saputo had an altercation after Montreal lost to SKC in July. As Jeremy outlined, there were concerns then among staff and players that he wouldn't even finish 2022 with the team.
Puts Crew interest in context. https://t.co/v5WXJHSjg7
As Sam noted in the tweet above that would explain the sudden and keen interest by other clubs in MLS, notably Houston and Columbus who looked to sweep Nancy. Something to keep an eye on.
For Nancy, this brings many questions about his future. What will the commitment by ownership be? Will he and his staff be rewarded with better contracts, will the club bring in the players he wants/fits his style?
As I suggested on Twitter, I would need several concessions for this relationship to continue, the work place needs to be a safe space. The money will have to work as well as Nancy is and should be recompensed like a top manager in the league.
Time will tell, but the start of the off season will be starting off with this blemish. We’ll see how ownership answers.
