As we return from the seemingly eternal international break, this could prove a game to start Ismael Kone as we await news from Djordje Mihailovic injury.

Even under a formation change, Wilfried Nancy would be wise to consider a start here for Kone. Not only an immense talent, Kone has proven versatile enough for various positions, something that is almost required if he is to ever play abroad and can help with now at CF Montréal.

Now, it’s not like for like if he starts in place of an injured Miha, but as a versatile ‘8’ he can do the job that has brought profiles and interest from all over to lay a stake at starting.

He is raw, no doubt about that, but what separates MLS from other leagues is a willingness to play the kids, as FC Dallas and others have proven could be a boon. MTL have a possible homegrown superstar and he has to play.

A start on Saturday vs a solid Austin side could be the first step in a fruitful partnership for club and player.

We’ll see what happens.
