How do the club manage Djordje Mihailovic injury?
Montréal is looking at a small or long period without him. I really only see two options, one for the short term and one for the long one. Given, we have not a clear update on his length of absence.
For anything under 3-4 weeks out, I could see Nancy playing a similar formation and just putting in Ismaël Koné there for a trial run. he has performed admirably in cameo roles and is a really promising talent. Giving him a run here could catapult him into starting and make for a suitable replacement once Djordje goes abroad most likely in January.
The doomsday scenario is if he does not work and Miha is out a considerable amount. Considering he is the straw that stirs the drink, a prolonged absence could hurt MTL’s odds in the East and put play off contention in jeopardy.
In this scenario the club and Nancy would be wise to sign a short term replacement, a veteran of MLS who can play at average levels or a second possibility is to change formations to maximize other players in the squad. If they stay as is, a formation change could work considering the many great academy players they have. Something more simple like a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 to limit exposure and make use of Joaquin Torres, Romell Quioto and Mason Toye’s creative talents could work until Miha returns.
What do you think MTL should do?
