Path to the playoffs for the Impact : 49 or bust

Can the Impact finish the season with at least 49 points and make the MLS playoffs

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

Kudos to the Sounder at Heart for an excellent article on how the Sounders can make the MLS playoffs, especially after a disastrous first half of the season. The Montreal Impact is looking up and aiming to reach the peak of the MLS standings as the months of August and September are basically the final sprint in MLS.

The math behind the madness. Toronto FC made the 2015 MLS playoffs with 49 points at 6th and last playoff eligible position. Whereas Montreal finished 3rd with 51 points , met and beat Toronto FC in the knockout round to lose to the Columbus Crew in the Eastern Conference semi-final.

The team at Mount Royal Soccer has inputted its predictions for the rest of the season and see if the Impact gets to 49 points, most probably synonymous with a playoff berth.

Winning at home is key for the Impact as Biello will look to rotate his squad while maximizing the team's effectiveness. One of the club's biggest challenge will be to get major points on the road as MLS parity has a tendency to show its ugly head at the worst of times.

What is your point prediction for the Impact?
