Chastised by Montreal Impact fans before setting foot in the city, Ignacio Piatti's official arrival in the 514 has been confirmed by the club this Wednesday. The Impact's second Designated Player (third DP in the history of the club) is on his way to Montreal to pass his medical.
If you like to track flights and greet players at airports, the Argentine offensive midfielder is landing at P-E Trudeau airport at 10:45am on Wednesday on flight number AA3509, as conveyed by the club. His first practice session is slotted for Thursday morning and Frank Klopas hopes to insert him into the lineup and give him some minutes.
Coming off a full season and a long COPA Libertadores run with San Lorenzo, Piatti's match fitness was not put in doubt by the coaching staff. The club is hoping the offensive maestro can fulfill the expectations put on him to take the team to the next level for 2015. The bleu-blanc-noir has set its eyes on the CONCACAF Champions League while trying to salvage what it can from a disastrous 2014 MLS season.
After practice, Piatti will be presented to the media in a press conference after the team's training session, at Stade Saputo.
The Piatti era has just started.
