CF Montreal’s 34-game schedule for the 2021 MLS season, has just been revealed.
It was already known that the opening game would be on April 17 against Toronto FC in Miami, and as things turn out, the final fixture, on Decision Day (Sunday 7, November) will also be in Florida, at Exploria Stadium against Orlando City.
Montréal will be in the Eastern Conference with thirteen other clubs and will playMontreal will play three times against six opponents from its conference: Atlanta United FC, FC Cincinnati, Inter Miami CF, Nashville SC, Orlando City SC and Toronto FC (based in Orlando).
They will then play two games against each of the other seven clubs in the Eastern Conference and also face two teams from the Western Conference: Vancouver and Houston.
Montréal will play a total of 18 games on a Saturday, 10 on a Wednesday, 5 on a Sunday and one game on a Friday.
The other dates for Montreal/Toronto clashes are Montreal and Toronto are August 27 and October 23.
The seven highest ranked teams of each conference will qualify to the MLS playoffs, which begin on November 19, with the MLS Cup final being played on December 11.
As with last season’s matches, each team will follow strict health and safety protocols, including Covid-19 testing on a regular basis.
The possibility of playing home games in Montreal will be studied when there will be developments on traveling protocols, in relation with public health and guidelines from different levels of government.
The CF Montreal squad flies to Orlando to finish off its training camp, presented by Allstate Insurance, on April 6.
