Didier Drogba expectedly reached the quarter-finals in the IMFC Greatest-ever MLS-player competition by heading off Andres Romero, who was not without support against the Ivorian. Just not enough.

Romero still acquired a 16% share of the fan vote, but Drogba was dominant being favoured by 84% of voters.

Drogba now faces the winner between Evan Bush and Marco Donadel in the quarter-final.

The evening’s more interesting contest was the one between defenders, Laurent Ciman and Hassoun Camara. Eight red cards between these two in their Impact careers, but it was Toronto’s Ciman who saw red at the end of this contest.

The lead in the poll changed hands several times, but at the death, Camara prevailed by the absolute slimmest of margins; 51% to 49%.

Camara now advances to the quarter-final where he will face the winner between Saphir Taider and Ambroise Oyongo.
