It’s final, and it’s official.

Montreal Impact has announced the departure of Ignacio Piatti back to former club, San Lorenzo, where he previously won the South American continent’s top club prize, the Libertadores Cup.

Announced Impact Sporting Director, Olivier Renard -

”We had decided collectively and in discussions with Nacho last year that he would be back in Montreal in 2020, but due to his personal situation, he told us at the start of training camp of his desire to return in Argentina to continue his playing career while being close to his family.

“With this new outcome and out of respect for Nacho and his family, we have worked diligently with his representatives and the Argentinian club of San Lorenzo to find a solution.”
All concerned can now draw a line under this on-going saga and move on. It of course frees up significant salary-cap room for Montreal Impact.
