Speaking mid-day yesterday before this evening’s encounter with Columbus Crew, Impact’s #9 sounded undecided whether his next career move would require a plane ticket or not.

With his contract running down at the end of the season, there is an option to remain in Montreal as a designated player or become a free agent.

“The option for the club also, not just for me,” he reminds.

It’s 9 months since Bojan has seen his family, something which inevitably will come into his thoughts, but he’s not focusing on his next steps just yet.

“I need to think about a lot of things, but not now. Now we have games, now that the season is on, something we believe [in], we want to be in the play-offs. We want to go as far as we can and then the time comes to decide about what is the best for my next step.”

Bojan’s recent form has possibly encouraged quite a few Impact fans to think again about the former Barcelona man sticking around for next season. The diminutive front man had struggled with injury for much of the stop-start campaign, but now with fitness returning, form is on the way up and he’s again producing the type of football he’s been noted for throughout his career.

But for the player, missing family remains a factor especially in these pandemic times. “In four days it will be nine months since I don’t see my family or my people.

“[It’s been a] difficult year. Life is not only about football. Football is something I love a lot. I want to play and I want to be competitive, but at this point I need to think about a lot of things.”

But as Bojan says, “Not now, we have games....”
