With thoughts beginning to swing away from the week long international football arena back to the domestic club game, it’s emerged that new Manchester United signing Edinson Cavani will not feature for the Red Devils at Newcastle on Saturday.

Having left PSG in June, the 33-year-old Uruguayan has not been part of an elite athlete bubble and needs to isolate for 14 days having arrived in Manchester on October 4.

Cavani will however be available for next Tuesday’s Champions League encounter against his old club. He’s sure to be named at the very least on the bench and it would be a surprise if he were not to make his United bow at some stage that evening.

For the weekend trip to St James’ Park, United will also be without the suspended Anthony Martial.
