Victor Cabrera, who joined the club from Buenos Aires’ River Plate in 2015 is poised to become only the sixth Impact player to make a century of starts (all competitions) in the club’s MLS era.
His appearance against Toronto FC in the last game at Stade Saputo was his 99th start.
Cabrera’s two most consistent seasons in terms of appearances, were under Frank Klopas then Mauro Biello, when he appeared 29 times in each of 2015 and 2016.
It was also in that first season when he netted his only goal so far, and he picked a big occasion to make his mark. Playing right-back in front of almost 34,000 at the ‘Big O’ in only his third appearance, he rammed home the second goal against Alajuelense of Costa Rica in the CONCACAF Champions’ League semi-final, first-leg.
The sum total of all his goals and assists also came in that first season, claiming an assist in the return leg against the Costa Ricans and another in the second-leg of the MLS Play-off match that was lost narrowly in extra time to Columbus Crew.
Victor has accumulated 23 yellow cards and three reds in all that time, but his disciplinary record improved in correlation with the team’s after the arrival of Remi Garde. His most errant season was 2017, with 6 yellows and a red, while in 2018 and 2019, he’s son far accumulated a total of 4 yellow and one red card.
