Brazilian, Neymar, has been named in the PSG squad for the Trophée des Champions match, being played this year in China for the first time in history. Shenzhen is the hosting city, the game will take place on Saturday 3 August and the opposition is Stade Rennais, who defeated PSG in last season’s Coupe de France Final.
Despite much transfer speculation over the close-season, coach Thomas Turchel has included his want away star in the huge 33-man squad.
PSG has confirmed the player has recovered from his ankle sprain and doing ‘daily physical work’ with a view to returning to full training with the squad in China. The news on Neymar’s fractured fifth metatarsal is also encouraging with x-rays coming up normal.
Another injured player, Presnel Kimpembe, the French defender, has responded well after abductor and abdominal wall surgery and is expected to maintain his gradual recovery at the training camp in China.
Other players are returning from their various international sojourns. Angel Di Maria, Marquinhos, Leandro Paredes and Thiago Silva (Copa America) and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting (AFCON), will join up with the squad on July, 31.
