This afternoon at Talen Energy Stadium, Evan Bush will surpass Patrice Bernier’s landmark of 151 MLS appearances for Montreal Impact.

The Impact custodian equalled Capi’s standard last weekend with a shut-out against a good Columbus Crew, and will be cognizant that a repeat will ensure he becomes the first Impact ‘keeper to keep four MLS clean sheets in-a-row.

One record however that Bush cannot break this afternoon is already his own. The Ohio native went 420 mins undefeated last season. After conceding a second goal in the 18th minute of the 2-0 reverse at Dallas last June, successive clean sheets were kept against Orlando City (twice) and Sporting Kansas City, before he was beaten again by Colorado RapidsDominique Badji with 12 mins left of their game at Stade Saputo.

Evan’s current run of unbeaten minutes stands at 276, Krisztian Nemeth being the last player to score on him towards the end of the calamity in Kansas.

Bush also holds the record for consecutive MLS starts for an Impact goalkeeper, currently 41. That’s 3 behind Samuel Piette’s ultimate club record, which like Bush’s run, is also current.

He is the only Impact ‘keeper to play all 34 MLS games in a Regular Season campaign, and the only one to reach double figures in MLS shut-outs (10), both in 2018.

His 1.26 goals per game concession rate in 2015 is also a Montreal Impact best.

With consistent and sometimes brilliant form since he began working with the current coaching team, Bush looks set to establish records destined to survive well into the future. All he needs now is a Supporters’ Shield, Conference Title or the ultimate, an MLS Cup, to add to the club benchmarks he continues to raise.
