Jimmy Briand, Case Closed

After the contract fell through last week, Garde revealed he was trying to reopen negotiations but not much changed.

In two weeks a non-signing has never been discussed this much by the club, fans and even players. The whole Jimmy Briand debacle was one for the books, unfortunately for the Montreal Impact. From the claims made by the club saying, Briand tried adding last minute changes to the contract, to the agent saying the club did not want to put stuff on paper. The whole thing was a little messy to say the least.

At the beginning of the week, Garde revealed that he had made an attempt to reopen discussions and try to find common ground. Fans have been on the edge of their seats to find out how the whole thing would end but confirmations coming out from the club this morning confirmed that Briand would not be coming to the Bleu-Blanc-Noir.

Time for Plan B (or maybe even C at this point). The Impact are in need of a striker. In just 30 minutes of play (and only three practices with new players) Piatti showed last night, during the All-Star game, what he is able to do with a more capable player at the end of his play creation.

Time to turn the page on whatever it was that happen with the Briand case and find the guy who will complete the front three with Piatti and Silva. Adding more quality at that position will make the Impact a more indisputable force in the MLS.

After the contract negotiations between club and player fell through last week. Rumors of players like Enner Valencia from Tigres UANL, who has already been linked to the club, have surfaced.

Valencia is only one of the many players named in the rumors surrounding IMFC and while these remain rumors for the time being fans are hopeful one will become more. The Impact have one week left to the transfer window to try and salvage the disaster they had over the last week.
