To get an insider look on the opponent visiting Saputo stadium tonight we asked a few question to Dirty South Soccer contributor Haris Kruskic.
1. While Atlanta sur a top of the table, the Impact have gotten their “mojo” back as of late and will look to make a statement against Atlanta. How do you think Atlanta needs to prepare for this “better” looking Impact?
HK: Montreal is in good form, especially at home. However, with good form comes an obligation for just about any MLS team to try and go for it in front of their home fans rather than sit back. Atlanta is comfortable with this on the road and have thrived when other teams attempt to attack with them, as is shown in their 6-2-2 away record which is the best in the league.
If Atlanta can continue to exploit teams on the counter while on the road, they’ll like their chances.
2. Martinez has made headlines for a few reasons in the last few games (breaking records and altercations). What can Impact fans expect from the league leading goal scorer?
HK: Expect a fiery, passionate player who stops at nothing to score as many goals as he can in 90 minutes. Martinez is a player that shows plenty of emotion while on the field and is never satisfied, as he’s shown by scoring 22 goals in just as many matches this season. He’s well on his way to smashing the single-season MLS record for most goals, which is 27. He’s absolutely looking to find the back of the net on multiple occasions on Saturday.
3. After some off field issues Barco was suspended and should be missing the game Saturday. What can be said or at the very least speculated of the whole situation?
HK: Dirty South Soccer’s own Rob Usry did some terrific investigative work to find out more about the situation. Read his story here to get a better idea of what went down.
