With a season in the slumps and Joey Saputo promising changes in the summer transfer window (starting July 10th) the focus of the club should shift to the Canadian Championship.
The Impact's first game of the tournament will be against Vancouver on July 18th at home before heading to Vancouver for the away leg on July 25th. This tournament could be something for the players and fans to look forward to in a more than difficult season. It will also give an opportunity for some young Canadian talent to prove themselves and for hopefully new arrivals to leave their mark.

The Impact's miracle run in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2015 was an impressive moments but also brought a lot of fans to the stadium, it made soccer a priority for sports fans in Montreal which is something that is extremely difficult to do.
Why would it be possible for the Impact to have a chance at this tournament? The mindset of the players will be important alongside of the preparation they put in. Additionally, it will depend how much their opponents are going to focus on the tournament depending on their situation in the MLS and how strong their Canadian talent is since that is the primary focus on the tournament. Rules require for Canadians to be the focus of the teams with an enforced number of starters and players on the total lineup.
