According to many reports, the 29-year-old Greek midfielder could be on his way to the Montreal Impact very soon.
The Greek international is currently under contract with Serie A club Udinese Calcio he was then loaned out to Italian club Fiorentina where he didn't play much soccer due to injury. Kone mostly plays as a central midfielder but can sometimes play right wing or the attacking midfield role.
Panagiotis Kone has also played for Joey Saputo's Bologna where he played under former Montreal Impact’s striker Marco Di Vaio. This makes his link to the Montreal Impact more interesting and believable.
A source close to Panagiotis Kone said that talks between his agent and the Impact have been made but nothing right now is practical.
Just spoke to Greek International Panagiotis Kone on possible move to #IMFC He said nothing is practical right now but his agent is in talks— Peter Alper (@peteralper99) January 6, 2017
If Kone does find his way to Montreal his services would be very much needed. A midfield of Dzemaili, Donadel, Piatti, Bernardello and Kone could very much be one of the best in the MLS. Anytime an MLS club can get their hands on an experienced European player its a great addition.
