The Costa Rican has been an unused sub during the Montreal Impact’s last 2 games, a 1-1 tie vs D.C. United and a 5-1 trashing of the Philadelphia Union. Highly touted when he joined Montreal from Costa Rican club Alajuense, the Costa Rican international is seemingly on his way out.

The tweet from Nicolas Martineau of TVA Sports, who is usually on top of Impact rumours and such, has the impact sending Venegas on loan to Portugal. Nilton Jorge ,of KAN Football Club, is quite astute and mentions that Venegas’ agent has a client who plays in Portuguese club Moreirense.
The rumor would make sense and the loan even more as the Impact seemingly is unable to find an MLS trading partner or a good transfer opportunity to make it viable economically to sell Venegas.
A third option could be that the Impact has not lost hope yet and wants to give the offensive midfielder playing to then evaluate where he stands in the club’s plans.
