Over 1 Million Viewers: IMFC v. TFC Smashes Canadian TV Record

MLS: Eastern Conference Championship-Toronto FC at Montreal Impact Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

While LineGate, controversial calls and the tense 3-2 lead may be grabbing the headlines, Bell Media has announced the TV viewership numbers from last nights Canadian clash. Clocking in with an average of more than 1 million viewers across TSN and RDS, the Conference Final first leg was the most watched MLS game in Canadian history., between Toronto FC and the Montreal Impact.

Even more exciting, more than 3.6 million unique viewers chimed into the action at some point during the game. That is more than the population of the Greater Montreal Area.

Surely aiding things, RDS famously moved the game from its RDS2 channel to RDS proper, making it available without the need of a special package.

Coverage continues with the Eastern Conference Championship Leg #2 on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. ET on TSN and 6:30 p.m. ET on RDS.
