Depleted Impact to face San Jose Earthquakes: Drogba, Piatti, Donadel, Bush, Mapp absent

A depleted impact squad faces off the San Jose Earthquakes

The Montreal Impact sent Didier Drogba, Ignacio Piatti, Justin Mapp, Marco Donadel, Laurent Ciman and Evan Bush home. Even though Ciman was suspended for both games in California, the Belgian international joined the team in LA to practice with the team.

Donadel, Drogba , Bush and Piatti are going back to Montreal to rest for the home game against the New England Revolution at Stade Saputo, next Saturday evening. Mapp picked up a toe injury and the club did not hesitate to send him to La Belle Province to get treatments and hopefully be available.

Head coach Mauro Biello

We need to manage the roster for our upcoming games, rotating a few players this week to balance the lineup and give us the best chance to earn points. With the number of games, the travel and time change, the conditions are difficult and we wanted to give some players some time to rest.

The club's depth has been tested more than once this season, mostly due to injuries but never due to forced rest. Though rotating a squad is an important tool when trying to effectively manage a roster. Younger players, bench players and core players that stayed in California will have to do against a San Jose Earthquakes team that has won 4 games out of the last 6.

Which does not mean that going after the 3 points at Avaya Stadium is not an option and that should be a motivation for the boys in blue.
