Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Mauro Biello takes over as the new head coach and Director of Player Personnel for the Montreal Impact, officially taking out the interim tag, since taking over Frank Klopas. The St-Leonard native and Impact legend has been signed to a 3-year contract with the MLS franchise.

The club has shown confidence to the man that was the heir apparent to the head coaching job since the moment that the club joined MLS in 2012. The 43-year old has been an assistant coach with the Impact under Jesse Marsch, Marco Schallibaum and Frank Klopas.

Taking advantage of the Drogba effect, Biello's tenure as interim coach was also marked at how he was able to change the group's mentality from a morose state to a championship caliber squad, leading them to the Eastern Conference semi-finals.

Mauro Biello

I'm very happy and honored to represent this club,. It's great to see that the club has shown confidence in me and continues to believe in me. I'd like to thank Joey and the club for this opportunity and I will work has hard possible to make this team competitive every year. I am looking forward to continue working on the success we found in the final months of the season.

Mauro is the perfect example of what this club represents: passion, pride, loyalty and a profound desire to succeed. In a very short time and under difficult circumstances, he produced some excellent results as interim coach. We are confident that he will help bring more memorable moments to the club.
