MLS Playoffs: Impact will face Columbus Crew in conference semifinals

Impact will face the Columbus Crew in conference semifinals

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

It only took one half for the Montreal Impact to dispose of MLS rivals Toronto FC in the MLS knockout round game. Goals from Patrice Bernier,  Ignacio Piatti and Didier Drogba were more than enough to asphyxiate any TFC comeback.

With this win, the Impact will face the Columbus Crew in a home and away series during one of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The first game will be played this Sunday at 7pm EST at Stade Saputo.

Both teams have already met during the season at both Stade Saputo and Crew Stadium with the Impact winning both bouts 2-1 and 3-0.

With the CONCACAF Champions League and the importance of playing the first game at home, it will be key for the Impact to talk care of business this Sunday against a much more organized and cohesive squad. Led by Ethan Finlay, Gonzalo Frederico Higuain and Kei Kamara,  the Crew will offer a difficult challenge.

But playing at home will be key for the Bleu-Blanc-Noir though Mauro Biello's squad will be playing it's 3rd game in 1 week.
