1⁄3 of the Season Complete, Has CF Montréal Proved it Belongs on the Elite Mountain?

The results suggest, yes!

CF Montréal is top four in the Eastern Conference! After about a third of the season has come and gone, so we have to ask, is the team in the elite sphere of Major League Soccer?

Results and stats suggest, they are. Being four points off the top and with a star striker still on the mend, it would seem to me that the club has over performed a ad.

That can only be good for the rest of the season and as Mason Toye gets healthier, team chemistry should improve, making this team well positioned to compete for top three in the East.

Looking at past results, wins over Orlando, Red Bulls and playing tight vs Nashville and Philadelphia give a good look in to this team’s quality. On the flip, a big loss to NYCFC, and coming off two straight losses is cause for concern.

Yet, when compared to the rest of the league and the East specifically, the results are more than solid.

Credit to Wilfried Nancy and the players. With one or two key adds, the team can jump in to elite status.

The two biggest rivals will be NYCFC and the Union, making the next 20 or so games very fun and competitive. Floor is set and top three should be a priority for the team. Let’s just hope star man Djordje Mihailovic stays through this season.
