The cub had a major announcement ready for Sunday’s match:
CF Montréal will be returning the number 12 to its fans this Sunday, during the match against Real Salt Lake, scheduled for 4pm at Stade Saputo.
This gesture aims to underscore the importance and contribution of the Club’s fans, who are the driving force behind Stade Saputo’s atmosphere and who generate the energy that drives the 11 players on the pitch during every match. The number will be retired in perpetuity and will no longer be worn. A permanent banner will also be displayed inside the stadium, serving as a reminder every match of the crucial contribution of the team’s twelfth player. Originally ceded to fans in 2012 when the team entered MLS, the initiative ended in 2020.
It seem to be good news as the club attempts to mend bridges ahead of another rebrand in the near future. Little by little the club and its supporters do near closer.
It’s great in the sense that the club is flying and is tied for second in the Eastern Conference with NYCFC.
More support can only be good for the club and players. We’ll see how the relationship continues.
