Toronto FC beats the Impact 4-2 in first leg of Canadian Championship semi-final

Didier Drogba's last minute goal gives hopes to the Impact for a comeback in the second leg.

It was basically an almost A squad for the Montreal Impact facing a makeshift B- squad wearing the Toronto FC red , at BMO field. For the first leg of the Canadian Championship semi-final, the " Two Solitudes Derby " gave us a series of dramatic twists and a few rollercoaster rides, in what should have been an easy game for Montreal.

After going down 3-0 and one-man down, the Impact was able to conjure up 2 crucial away goals thanks to goals from Michael Salazar and Didier Drogba. The 4-2 first leg result makes the second leg at Stade Saputo even more important as the game stays meaningful for players and fans alike.

The red card for captain Patrice Bernier took away a lot of tactical flexibility for Mauro Biello and his staff but Toronto FC was the dominant team either way. In ten minutes, Montreal was able to score 2 important goals but the Reds still have control over the home and away series.

Merci Didier!!
