The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that the club will not be picking up its option for the 2015 season on defenders Matteo Ferrari and Futty Danso (contract ended in 2014), as well as midfielders James Bissue and Zakaria Messoudi.
"These are not easy decisions to make, but we must look forward," said head coach and Director of Player Personnel Frank Klopas. "We had mentioned on Monday that there would be changes. The difficulty in having these players returning lies in our salary cap. I want to thank them for their services with our club."
Other roster changes are expected in the coming weeks.
Meeting with the media later that day, Klopas insisted on the fact the team needed '' more speed at the back '' while giving himself more room and flexibility on the salary cap.
As for Messoudi, he might find himself a spot on the Impact's USL Pro team in 2015, FC Montreal.
Bien qu’il ne sera pas de retour en MLS avec le club, Messoudi pourrait peut-être se retrouver avec l’équipe en USL Pro. #IMFC
