A further look at two X factors.

CF Montréal is back to its winning ways as the club cemented their tenth MLS win! A 1-0 win that should have been much more.

Today we have two more observations as look at two real X factors that helped MTL seal this much needed win.

1 Alistair Johnston is legit

The star wingback and Canadian international is on a roll, notching his fifth (!) assist as he has played really well all season for MTL. The player was maybe unjustly left off the All Star team roster, but that has no impact here. Exceptional play deserves recognition and with Djordje back the combinations and possibilities are endless as we enter crunch time here soon. Let’s hope everyone stays healthy. Assist —->

2 Samuel Piette’s Partnership with Victor Wanyama will be key to MTL’s Cup Hopes

Little long there, but the sentiment is true, el capitano will need to be at his best with Wanyama as they lead the team in the back. With the team giving up so many goals it will be up to these two to tame the opposing team’s attack. If they can solidify the partnership and shore up the defense by helping in transition more we could have a championship caliber team. We’ll see if it materializes.
