Between 50 and 60 Impact fans diverged on Stade Saputo on Saturday afternoon in protest at their club’s name-change to Club de Foot Montreal.
Organizers may have been hoping for a greater turnout, however Covid crowd restrictions were in place to max out the gathering at only 100.
The club’s new logo at the stadium was vandalized by paint, an act of violence which demonstrates the deep feeling against the name-change by some fans, but not one which will earn the sympathy of moderates who feel less strongly about the club’s new identity.
