The latest newcomer Ahmed Hamdi (22), was announced this afternoon by CF Montreal. He joined on loan from Egyptian Premier League outfit, El Gouna.

The deal, for the 2021 season, also includes a player purchase option. The agreement will be confirmed upon reception of the player’s international transfer certificate and medical examination.

Sporting Director Olivier Renard said; “We are very pleased with the acquisition of this young U-23 international.

“He is a player with attacking qualities, who can play as a box-to-box midfielder or higher up as an attacking midfielder.

“He’s very skilled technically and can provide that final, decisive pass. We hope he will confirm what we saw in him, so that we can keep him with us for several years.”

After playing with Cairo-based powerhouse Al Ahly’s U-23 team, Hamdi became part of the club’s senior squad in 2018, scoring two goals and adding three assists in 18 games.

He was then loaned out to El Gouna FC for the 2019 season, before making the move permanent in September of that year. In his first full league season the midfielder tallied seven goals and three assists and has followed up in 2020 with two goals in four appearances.

Hamdi has five u23 international caps for the Egyptian national team.
