More concerning news ahead of the MLS-is-back tournament in Florida. Within the last hour Yahoo Sports carried a story referencing reports from The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio and Sam Stejskal stating that five players on Nashville SC have tested positive for the coronavirus since arriving in Orlando.
One player’s positive test was during the initial arrival testing, and the other four in subsequent testing procedures. It’s a scenario that has the hallmark of the situation affecting FC Dallas.
This now throws Nashville’s first match, in which they were scheduled to meet Chicago Fire, Wednesday, into doubt. Nashville’s players have not trained since Tuesday. Given the circumstances MLS may well mirror their decision on the Dallas-Vancouver match and postpone to a later date.
As yet nothing has appeared on MLS.com confirming any of the developments around the reported Nashville SC situation.
Reports also suggest two members of the Colorado Rapids party have tested positive for COVID-19, and the club delayed it’s flight to Orlando. It was due to depart today.
