He’d not really be a newcomer if it weren’t for the untimely pandemic interruption, but with only five appearances under his belt, I expect Joel Waterman still qualifies for such a label.
But like most of the sounds coming out from Centre Nutrilait this week, he’s upbeat and positive about the condition of the group as the Florida tournament looms.

“Feeling really good. There’s been some good weeks of training and lots of stuff we’re working on, on the pitch, for the tournament.

“We’re feeling good, and we’re ready to go!”

The former Cavalry man feels Montreal’s level is good despite some obvious growing pains experienced in getting back into training.

“Each and every day we’ve been working hard on skills and fitness. We really need to get back to game fitness as quickly as possible so we’re ready for a good tournament.”

Waterman also acknowledged awareness at the reported Covid-19 numbers in the state of Florida, but feels everyone simply needs to be diligent and keep track of the safety protocols.

“We must keep our players safe and hopefully the rest of the players over there stay safe too.”
