Nacho Piatti rolled back the years on Saturday providing a sumptuous, 17th-minute cross from a set-piece to set up Federico Gattoni for San Lorenzo’s opening goal at Aldosivi in the battle between Group Five’s unbeaten teams in the Liga Professional Argentina.
He then helped himself to a goal of his own seven minutes later, after a loose ball ricocheted in his direction.
It was Piatti’s first start of the new season and his masterclass proved the foundation for an impressive away win, Aldosivi finding consolation only after San Lorenzo had raced into a four-goal lead.
The scoring ended at 4-1, and the former Impact maestro was centre of attention at his club’s press conference this afternoon.
“I came back because I knew I could perform like this, my intention was to show that I am very well. I want to continue winning things at this club.”

And the 35-year-old seems excited by what’s going on at the club where he became a continental champion before moving to the Impact in 2014.
“It was a challenge for me to be a starter again. Everyone who has been playing [for San Lorenzo this season] is doing very well. It reminds me of the 2013/14 group, when those titles were won.
“Something important is being built here.”
