Sanna Nyassi - N/A

N'a joué que 8 minutes...

Andres Romero - 4.5

N'a joué que 19 minutes et n'a rien cassé.

Daniele Paponi - 4

After a disappointing 2-1 defeat to the Columbus Crew, it’s time to examine who contributed and who didn’t with, ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’.

The Good...

Marco Di Vaio - Another game, another goal for our Italian striker. Di Vaio's league leading 18th goal was one of the reasons that saw him land in The Good. But beyond the goal, Di Vaio was also responsible for some nice Give-and-Go's with Felipe in the first half. He was one of the few players to battle hard for the full 90mins and even after the final whistle.

Alessandro Nesta - Hard to imagine that a defender can positively stand out in a game that saw the Impact give up two second half goals. But on either goal, Nesta's hands were clean. Nesta was at his best Saturday night, repeatedly making excellent reads, timely challenges and clearing the ball out of the box.

Felipe Martins - Another strong outing for the future team Canada midfielder! Felipe was at the heart of the Impact's best chances. He often created opportunities for Di Vaio and again showed good chemistry with Arnaud on the wing.

Playoffs- Despite the three lost points, thanks to the Philadelphia Union and the New England Revolution losses Saturday night, the Impact still secure excellent playoff position. However, The Supporter's Shield is another story.

Follow @Danny_Ribs

The Bad...

Justin Mapp - It's a rarity this season, but Mapp laid a stinker Saturday night. From his 8th minute miss in front of the Columbus keeper to the off target crosses and turnovers. He saved his worst for last as his lazy pass attempt to Camara fell to the feet of Frederico Higuain and then led to the Oduro game winning goal.

Matteo Ferrari - Not exactly sure how to describe Ferrari's performance. In one hand he setup the Di Vaio goal with a nice header; but on the other hand, Ferrari was often out of place and late on plays. The reliable center back had an unusually erratic night. Like Mapp, he also had a say in the game winning goal by Oduro (details below).

Why even Sub?- Sanna Nyassi, Daniele Paponi and Andres Romero all failed to provide a spark to the Montreal side, let alone create ONE scoring chance. Romero did nothing but reconfirm to us that Arnaud is the better option at left wing and Paponi, in what has become a concerning trend, is completely invisible on the field.

What this roster needs, is a young energetic player of the bench that has a precedent of contributing late in games. Ideally, one that can play the wing or forward and has a solid left foot. If only one existed.......

@TVASports - This one is for all the angry Impact fans out there who missed the first 25mins (including the Di Vaio goal !) to watch some Davis Cup tennis. Come on TVA, you're the official broadcaster of the Montreal Impact!

All I can say is.... congratulations Canadian Tennis on a great run at Davis Cup !

The Ugly...

Crew's game winning goal - This is truly deserving of the Ugly. In a span of a few seconds, not one....not two....but THREE major errors were committed by Impact players on the Oduro goal.

As mentioned, it all starts off with a lazy Mapp pass attempt to Camara that falls to the feet of Federico Higuain. Hassoun Camara is then caught in the awkward position of deciding whether to backup and keep Higuain in front of him or step up and try and knock the ball off the Crew player. Camara does the latter and completely whiffs as he arrives late on Higuain.

This then brings us to the final gaffe. While Camara is chasing Higuain down the wing, Ferrari chooses to not mark Doninic Oduro in the middle and instead play the offside. Nesta has his back to Ferrari and is unaware of Ferrari's decision. Ferrari can only watch as Oduro runs past him onside and casually taps in the Higuain cross past Perkins.

Not the team effort a coach is looking for...

Share your thoughts, Impact fans. Who impressed you? Who did not? And better yet, what did I get wrong?

Quotes

Montreal Impact head coach Marco Schallibaum

General Impressions on the game...

Definitely Columbus is our nemesis. We haven't won against them yet and I think if we would have been able to get that second goal we would have won, but we couldn't get it.

Do you think Columbus gave in, in the first half to concentrate their energy in the second...

I don't know what the strategy was for the other coach but I think we played well in the first half. We pushed and had a lot of opportunities, if we would have gotten that second goal, I think we could have won it. Then when they scored their first goal, it shook us and in the second half our play was still very solid. We weren't missing much, but then again there are days like that.

Do you think some players on the field weren't giving it their all...

I don't think so. That is your opinion but I coach a team that is playing very well and they were giving it their all until the equalizer. Afterwards, moments like that can happen because it isn't easy but I didn't have any players that didn't want to play today.

Davy Arnaud

General Impressions on the game...

I thought we played very well in the first half and that we were deserving of the lead. We came out in the second half and it wasn't perfect. Ideally it would be, but at 1-0 we still created some chances that we didn't score on. Unfortunately, we let them back into the game on a set piece. We were conscious that we had to be careful on these set pieces since they are very good with them.

Did you feel the Crew was hungrier for the win in the second half...

When they got the goal, you could see that their confidence came back up. Then they went and got the second goal and they are in a position where they need the points since they are fighting for a place in the playoffs. So after the second goal it was harder for us to get back up.

Marco Di Vaio

General Impressions on the game...

We had a good first half. We had a lot of chances and we controlled the game well from the first ten minutes on. Columbus is a hard team for us to play against, so it was no surprise for us tonight that the game was hard.

How do you explain such a result against Columbus...

I wouldn't be able to explain. There are some teams that are harder to beat and Columbus is one of those teams that we have a hard time against. Every time it's always a hard battle.

Columbus Crew Head Coach

General impressions on the game...

We gave what we thought we had in the first half and I thought we were playing very well defensively and turned over a couple of half chances. Then the restart goal came where Montreal took advantage of the corner and we clawed our way back in at the close of the half. I think Lampson made a good save to keep us at 1-0 at the end of the first half. Then we came out in the second half with the same spirit but with a little bit more commitment. We were able to get that restart goal as they had done with us and then turned over the game in the middle of the second half. To our credit, our guys fought and held on.

How did Chad's goal change the momentum in the game...

I think it's always difficult when you are not doing well in the standings and every little mistake counts. Finally Chad was able to score a restart goal and that was uplifting to our guys and I think it tipped the game for us.

How difficult was it putting up a lineup today with all the injuries on your team..

It's never easy, that's why you have 30 guys on your roster and you rely on guys to fill the holes when your regular guys are out. We've asked guys to fill in roles and play different spots and to their credit, the guys have stood up to the test for the most part when we've asked them to go in there.

Dominic Oduro

General impressions on the game..

I thought we played well. We came out really good and dominated for the first 20 minutes. They came out with a goal in the first half but we countered very well and played strong in the second half. We stayed compact and overall we did very well.

On scoring his tenth goal after a long scoring break...

Personally, I would give my goal to anyone in the team to get those three points. That's exactly what we needed. I wouldn't say this goal got a monkey off my chest, but something like that. Higuain sent me a great ball that I was able to put in the net so I'm happy I scored but I'm more grateful that we got three points on the road.

Chad Marshall

General Impressions on the game...

It was a grind for sure. It was a very well fought game against a very good team so to get three points here was huge.

How did it feel to score your first goal...

It felt great, I hadn't scored prior this season, so it was obviously nice to get us back in the game especially since I had a part in their goal with a miss communication with Matt. So it felt good to get us even.

Marco Di Vaio's 18th goal of the season was not enough as the Montreal Impact lose 2-1 to the Columbus Crew at Stade Saputo. Goals from Chad Marshall and Dominic Oduro gave the visitors 3 points and the Yellow Submarine stays alive for a playoff spot.

Usually, when Marco Di Vaio scores, the Montreal Impact add another notch to its Win column. On a chilly cloudy afternoon, the Columbus Crew dampened the enthusiasm of 20,000+ fans at Stade Saputo with a 2-1 win over Les Bleus.

After a strong start to the first half, the Crew conceded the first goal at the 15th minute. The most unlikely candidate to score off a header, Marco Di Vaio scores his 18th goal with a smart assist by Matteo Ferrari. The Italian defender played the ball back towards goal, off a Patrice Bernier cross. Di Vaio was unmarked and tap the ball in with his head.

The rest of the first half was to the advantage of Montreal. With many chances, runs, overlaps and blocked shots, the Impact were not very far to score a second goal during the first half.

But after the break, a motivated and disciplined Crew team was ready to take advantage of a Montreal that was unable to be efficient.

The Crew equalized in the 66th minute thanks to its Designated Player Federico Higuain. The Argentinean curled a free-kick that found Chad Marshall in the box. The central defender overpowers everyone in the box, jumps for the ball and beats Troy Perkins.

Less than 15 minutes later, Federico Higuain brings our his creative shoes and feeds the ball to Dominic Oduro. Running down the left flank, Higuain spots the Ghanean forward with a gorgeous pass. Oduro finds himself alone and unmarked. He gets enough on the ball to redirect it past Perkins, who has made a few saves to keep his club in the game.

The Montreal Impact do not have a lot of time to mull over the loss. A mid-week again, on Tuesday, takes them to California to face the San Jose Earthquakes in the CONCACAF Champions League game.
