Hurtado Excited For Big Kick-off

Looking forward to meeting the rest of the team in Florida...

Erik Hurtado - looking forward to the squad finally getting all together....

Erik Hurtado, one of the influx of new playing personnel at CF Montreal, can’t wait to get going.

Speaking of his excitement at the prospect of a new season, he says he’s keen to get together with the rest of his new team-mates down in Florida.

“We’re all excited to get together as a complete team. being separated is hard. We need to see how each other plays and how we can be comfortable with each other. With the separation it’s difficult to get to know one another, eleven v eleven.”

As intensity rises in daily training Hurtado likes it that new coach Wilfried Nancy has been vocal and clear and says he’s been impressed with several players in the squad, notably Amar Sejdic and Clement Diop, of whom he mentioned, “He likes to come out hard and aggressive.” From that last comment it’s safe to assume Erik’s had his space taken on the end of one of at least one of the goalkeeper’s challenges...

Hurtado resorted to light training for a couple of days this week, however confirmed he’s now back in full swing and fighting fit.

“It’s becoming very competitive in practise and I’m looking forward to getting fitter and getting everything back together. I also get a better feel of how I might fit into this team each day, as training progress. It’s becoming more comfortable and I’m very excited for whatever role I’m given.”

Erik Hurtado made 17 MLS appearances (including 2 in the Play-offs) for Sporting KC in 2020, scoring 5 goals.

He’s been playing MLS for almost as long as Montreal has, having made his debut, for Vancouver Whitecaps in 2013. Since then he’s amassed 133 MLS regular season appearances. His next MLS goal will be his 20th.
