We caught a first glimpse of Egyptian u23 international Ahmed Hamdy at CF Montreal training this morning.
It’s Hamdy’s first day of liberation away from his hotel incarceration. He showed up well in the main scrimmage with his new team-mates, looking fit and solid, as much as you can tell from a first training session following 14 days of isolation.
Unlike any of his CFM U23 team-mates from the US and Canada, he is likely to participate in Olympic football in Tokyo this summer, being part of the Egyptian squad successful in the African Zone qualifiers.
There was more optimism too in the return to the training field of Luis Binks. He did not enter the main scrimmage with his team-mates, instead opting for light jogging around the complex, but good to see him back outside.

None of the players involved in Olympic Games qualifying nor of course those who travelled with the Canadian senior squad have returned to Montreal training. They will go directly to Florida, where they will meet up with the rest of the squad next week.
