CF Montreal announced this morning the appointment of Jason Di Tullio as assistant coach with the first-team.

It’s been a great two days for Di Tullio, this announcement coming the morning after the Canadian u23s assistant coach watched his side defeat El Salvador 2-0 in Olympic qualifying.

“I am very happy to be working with Jason again. The decision was quite easy for me,” said head coach Wilfried Nancy. “Jason knows the Club and the way I work very well. He is competent and will bring his energy, two elements that will help us achieve our goals. I welcome him to my coaching group.”

Di Tullio currently down in Mexico as assistant to Mauro Biello said, “I’m very happy, excited and also emotional to be back on the club’s first team.

“I’ve always wanted to come back to this environment. A few years later, I’m even more prepared to take on these responsibilities. I’ve learned from my first stint as a coach with the pros in Montreal, and I’m glad that Wilfried (Nancy) and Olivier (Renard) believe in me.

“I want to give the best of myself with Wil, whom I’ve known for a long time. We see our sport in the same way and we have the same values. I can’t wait to take on the challenge that awaits us, to meet the team in Florida, to get to work and eventually be able to experience these emotions and this passion with our fans at Stade Saputo.”

Di Tullio had previously been an assistant coach with the club’s first team from 2015 to 2017 and returned to the club as head coach of the U17 squad in August 2019. He was named the club’s u23 head coach last September.

He’s held various other coaching roles within the CF Montreal organization and was technical director of the Regional Association of soccer in Lanaudière for a year.

As a player, Di Tullio played for Montreal in the North American Second Division, appearing in 75 games between 2002 and 2007.

Assistant coach Esteban Landazabal and post-training supervisor Patrice Bernier will each act in interim roles with the club’s u23 team, following Jason Di Tullio’s promotion.
