After tying up Finnish international winger Lassi Lappalainen for another year, Olivier Renard and Montreal Impact have now also secured the services of 19-year-old centre-back Luis Binks until the end of 2021.

Binks was transferred from Montreal Impact to Bologna in August and immediately loaned back, and the Italian Serie A club has decided another year in MLS is best for the player’s development at this stage of his career.

Impact fans will see this as a huge positive as Sporting Director, Renard continues to build a squad for 2021.

“Despite his young age and his little experience at the professional level, Luis played an excellent first season with us, which got him a transfer to Bologna,” said Renard. “He showed what he can bring to this group and we are happy to know he will keep progressing in our club for another year.”

Binks who joined the Impact from Tottenham Hotspur, has played in 24 of the Impact’s 27 matches this season so far, making 23 starts.
