Before the 15 minute mark, the Montreal Impact was already up 2-0 over DC United in front of a packed Stade Saputo. Were you told that Didier Drogba scored both goals?
The Drogba phenomenon has not just taken over the city of Montreal but the whole has taken notice of the Drogbuzz. As the club thrives in a new era under new coach Mauro Biello, Drogba's Impact on the team has only grown exponentially. Showcasing his skills, the Chelsea FC star scores on a direct free kick against one of the best goalkeepers in the MLS, Bill Hamid.
A few minutes later, he goes for a run with a misplaced back pass by the DC midfield and dribbles past the lone defender to beat Hamid again.
But beyond the win, Drogba has galvanized the whole squad, injecting oxygen into a group seemingly on life support after a difficult month of August.
Interesting observation from the game was the new trio composed of Nigel Reo-Coker, Marco Donadel and Patrice Bernier. The midfield had more composure and seemed to really do a decent job to effectively balance offense and defense.
On a 6-game unbeaten streak, Montreal took full advantage of a 3-game home stand before playing 4 consecutive road games.
