The Heir Apparent to the captaincy, Patrice Bernier, was bothered by by his right knee in the final weeks of the 2013 season. The Montreal Impact midfielder just had successful surgery to his right knee, as confirmed by the club via press release.
Bernier will be out for a period of 4 to 6 weeks, making him available to the opening of training camp on January 27th 2014. As it was showing on the field during the last weeks, Bernier was not 100% and his "impact" on the Montreal midfield was felt as the club was going through a slump.
Like Davy Arnaud, the ex-captain of the club, Bernier did not play during the Impact's first ever MLS playoff game against the Houston Dynamo.
