The Ignacio Piatti rumors have been picking up some steam as the Argentinean offensive midfielder seems to be close to signing with the Montreal Impact. As reported by Nick Sabetti, the deal between both parties is close to be finalized.
Tony Marinaro , of TSN690, gave the first report via twitter that the club is about to sign a 3-year deal worth 10M$.
Typo: According 2 a source #IMFC have signed a 3year deal over 10m with Argentine winger Ignacio Piatti. He will be a DP & join team in June

Piatti currently plays for San Lorenzo de Almagro in the Argentine Primera Division. The midfielder also has played professional football in Europe with Saint-Étienne and Lecce. He came back to Argentina from Italy for a reported fee of €1 million.
The potential signing of Piatti would be good news for both Impact fans and the coaching staff. Since joining the league in 2012, the Bleu,Blanc,Noir has never had a real offensive midfielder with a knack to score goals. As per secondary scoring, Montreal has depended on a streaky Felipe Martins and the perfect penalty kick record of Patrice Bernier.
As it is most probably Marco Di Vaio's last year, the Impact needed more options offensively. Criticized for a quiet off-season in player procurement, getting a player of Piatti's caliber is a needed boost on and off the field.
Until Piatti's potential arrival during the summer, will the Montreal Impact still be in a playoff race? Until then, Frank Klopas will need to get his team on a winning streak and focus on the squad of players available to him.
Midfielder, winger or goal scorer? Probably all three
