The Montreal Impact have just made official the 1-year loan of Andrea Pisanu from Bologna FC. The Serie A midfielder is being tagged as added value in the offensive midfield department. One advantage , for both club and player , is that Pisanu will be joining the Impact right away, giving him time to gel with a strongly-knit squad.

Full Press Release

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that Italian midfielder Andrea Pisanu has been loaned to the club by Bologna F.C. pending his international transfer and visa clearance. As per Major League Soccer and club policy, details of the deal were not disclosed.

Pisanu, who will turn 31 on Monday, joins the Impact following a trial with the team during its post-season camp in Italy last November.

"We are very pleased to have been able to come to a loan agreement with Bologna," said Impact sporting director Nick De Santis. "Andrea can play behind the forward or as a wide player. We are adding another player with good offensive qualities who has a good understanding of the game. We are excited to bring in another first division player who is extremely motivated to come to MLS, and more importantly he will start the training camp from day one with the team. This will put him in a better situation to adapt to his teammates and to the style of soccer the team plays."

Pisanu scored six goals in 75 games in Serie A, including 71 with Parma F.C. between 2004 and 2012. He has also played for Cagliari, Verona and Bologna F.C. in Italy's top flight.

The Italian midfielder also played in 15 UEFA Cup games with Parma, helping the team to a semi-final berth in 2004/2005, scoring three goals in 10 games.

He spent time most recently with Bologna F.C., where he was a teammate of the Impact's current Designated Player, Marco Di Vaio, from 2009 to 2011. He played two games in Serie A and six matches for the reserve team with the rossoblu.

In 2011/2012, he played one season with A.C. Prato, in Italy's third division, following a loan by Bologna, where he scored 11 goals in 25 games.

Over his career, he made 37 appearances in Serie B with Cagliari, Hellas Verona F.C. and Parma F.C., as well as playing in third division with Siena and Varese on loan.
